
Sustainable San Mateo County is primarily a volunteer-run organization. We are always on the look out for talented and motivated volunteers who want to help maintain and improve our quality of life in San Mateo County. We invite you to join one of our many volunteer positions to help make San Mateo County truly sustainable. Below is the list of current volunteer opportunities:
Office Assistant
- Help SSMC upgrade our system to Salesforce CRM
- Help produce email newsletters, manage our website, and write press releases
- Previous experience with Salesforce, WordPress, ConstantContact and/or Joomla preferred
Energy Ambassador Intern
- Perform Personal Energy Reviews
- Give presentations to various community groups
- Help spread the word about Energy Ambassadors and the Energy Upgrade California rebate program
Events Committee Team Member
- Help coordinate all aspects of our annual Awards Event/Dinner in March with attendance of over 450 people
- Meets 1-2 times/month from August - April for 1.5 hours
Indicators Committee Team Member
- Help oversee and manage the production of SSMC’s annual Indicators for a Sustainable San Mateo County Report
- Meets monthly for 1.5 hours from August - February
Indicators Report Researcher
- Conduct research and write reports on one of the more than 30 indicators for our annual report. Topics range from air quality and energy use to transportation and affordable housing.
- Requires a committment of typically 20-30 hours from October - December
Public Outreach
- Represent SSMC at various local community events
- Help spread the word about sustainability and SSMC
